SATHI Library
The SATHI library & documentation centre started as a small unit of books, journals, reports etc. received through donations. It has grown since and presently comprises around 3000 books, 2500 reports, conference, seminar, workshop papers and reprints and back volumes of selected journals, subscribes to more than 10 national and international journals and receives newsletters, bulletins, reports, papers etc from various organizations. There is a continuous effort made to identify new material and add to the existing collection. The collection is rich and contains a wide collection of literature on health and related subjects. It is envisaged that the library and documentation centre would evolve as a specialized resource centre for health issues. Students, journalists, medical professionals, social workers, lawyers, trainers, activists, development workers, counselors, are welcome to use the library for reference.
The SATHI library has adopted the Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC) system. Presently the classification system is available in catalogue cards for subject index and in future would have the same in the title index format. Efforts are being made to computerize the entire library using the CDS ISIS and WIN ISIS library package, which would make interaction with other libraries easier.
The library provides various facilities and services to its members. SATHI has taken institutional membership of the British Council Library, Tata Institute of Social Sciences, International Institute of Population Studies and Centre for Education & Documentation.
